London, 1871, poor condition, reading copy only; 3 volumes complete; first two volumes published by Tinsley, the third, entitled "The Metropolitan Weekly and Provincial Press" published by Routledge; burgundy cloth covered boards; no dust jackets; spines faded to brown, covers very worn, spine ends badly chipped, hole in middle of volume III spine cover; covers of all soiled; corners worn to boards; volume I has completely broken front interior hinge and the spine cover is pulled away from the text block, and the rear cover is detached but present; volume II has front board and spine cover and rear board detached but present; volume III has all boards and spine cover attached to each other, but detached from the text block; bindings of text blocks of all three volumes is reasonably tight; interiors are unmarked, lightly toned; 8vo - over 7 3/4" - 9 3/4" Tall; 456, 462, & 564 pages. A thoroughly enjoyable read, not least because of Grant's opinionated and slightly gossipy style and apparent knowledge of the financial performance of all of Britain's newspapers. Three volume set, the first two published by Tinsley Brothers, the last by Routledge, though all in near-uniform Tinsley bindings. All in general good order. Occasional minor foxing, bindings a little shaken and some pages uncut. Publisher's ad page at rear of volume 2 is part missing. Purple cloth worn to edges, a little marked and lightly faded to spine. 8vo. i.456, ii.462pp, iii.564pp.
