Leaf on ffep partially obscured by PO bookplate with only the last name showing. All pages have the faintest of evidence of slight bend along bottom as if it had happened before the book was bound.Pages are clean. Signed by Author(s).

The boards are square and tight, the hinges are strong, a light shadow to boards near spine from handling, six cm. Gifted and dated front free page with a book store sticker to base of page as well. Lightly tanned areas on the front endsheet (presumably from laid-in clippings); tiniest possible bumping to the upper corners; otherwise an unworn, tight and sound copy in a jacket with a few short closed tears to the rear panel.

Munro Leaf gave them Ferdinand The Bull among others and Ludwig Bemelmans gave the world his Madeline books and his glorious illustrations. But Noodle is the only time that the two ever collaborated on a children's book. Noodle is charming and subtly teaches a child to like himself as he is. And yes. There really was a "Noodle". It was Munroe Leaf's dog. Small chips and closed tears to the dust jacket, unclipped ($1.50). Pages and lithographs are very clean. First printing. 10½" - 8". book.

Small ink ownership signature on pastedown; tiny shallow brown semicurlar spot affects the front free endpaper and succeeding few leaves; otherwise slean, tight and sound. The dust jacket is tanned and has numerous small chips and a larger triangular one at the bottom edge of the front panel, 3/4" deep, plus other creasing and use. The book is signed by Munro Leaf on the front free endpaper.

Tan cloth pictorially stamped in brown and black, gift inscription to FFEP, some offsetting opposite illustrations throughout; illustrated dust jacket with edge tears, light wear, darkened, original price intact ($1.50). A daschund wishes he were another shape and size and a dog fairy grants his wish. A great collaboration by the author of Ferdinand and the creator of Madeline. Pomerance G31, Bader pg 248. Brown cloth cover is lightly bumped at very tips of corners with a very faint soil spot on front and back cover but overall quite clean and in very good+ condition. Boards and spine are straight. Binding is tight. Modest thumbing on just a few pages but mostly pages are very clean and very good. Dust jacket has multiple short tears and chips with a large chip on back panel, otherwise toned but clean and overall in good condiiton. Publisher's price of $1.50 on DJ flap. Inscribed by Leaf (and with doodle) on fly-leaf: "To / Charles / with all the best wishes / Noodle and / Munro Leaf." Slight slant to spine, else tightly bound and clean and bright throughout, about Fine; Near Fine or better jacket (very light edge wear, closed tear skillfully repaired to back panel). Scarce in any edition, particularly signed, with First Search identifying only six copies of this fourth printing. Originally published in 1937. When Noodle, a dachshund, is granted a wish from the good dog fairy to be any size and shape, he decides to remain Noodle. N. B.
