Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. The Youths' History of the United States from the Discovery of America by the Northmen, to the Present Time (Volume One) was written by Edward S. Ellis and is illustrated throughout with intricate black-and-white illustrations. The book was published by Peter Fenelon Collier & Son in 1900 and appears to be a First Edition though it's not specifically stated as such. It's not an ex-library copy, has no dust jacket and is only in good condition with a spine that I've put some glue in and pages just now beginning to yellow. (Still very, very readable . . . and a great look at how it was.) The book is 7 3/4" by 11" and has 768 pages with Tables of Contents and the many fore-mentioned black-and-white illustrations. ""This history , then, is written for you. I shall strive to instruct as well as to entertain you, and to add to that knowledge of his country that every American youth should possess." This volume takes the student from the Northmen in the New World to the Administration of Buchanan and Breckinridge, 1857-1861. It consists of Volumes I and II. Thank you!
