Condition: Very good. Woodstock, New York: March 9, 1985., 1985. Very good. - Over 250 words densely typed by Fridolf Johnson in single space along the top half of an 11 inch high by 8-1/2 sheet of off-white paper. Thanking Walt Kuhn's daughet, Brenda Kuhn, for the clippings and xeroxes she sent him about Rockwell Kent, Fridolf goes on to inquire as to whether she has "seen the Kent Exhibition catalogue". "Besides all the reproductions, there are three introductory essays: one by West, one by Dan Burne Jones, and one by some guy named Fridolf Johnson. Dick West didn't give me any very exact ideas as to what I should write about, so I wrote about Kent the Restless." Signed "Fridolf". Fridolf's wife, Heidi, has penned an autograph note signed along the bottom half of the pages, "We are always so glad to get word from you and especially to gather from your letter that you are well and active as usual?!!" . "I have 3 Portrait commissions - very exciting!" signed "Heidi". There is a light stain and indentation from a paper clip at top left, else near fine. Together with the retained carbon copy of Brenda Kuhn's substantial letter, signed "Brenda" in ink by her. An illustrator and artist as well as a fine pressman Fridolf Johnson was an editor of American Artist Magazine until his retirement in the 1970's. As a graphic artist, he designed title panels for Hollywood movies and art & typography for advertising as well as dust jacket illustrations. He wrote and illustrated his own children's books in addition to other works. He also compiled and edited the Knopf book "Rockwell Kent: An Anthology of His Work". Fridolf Johnson's wife the artist Heidi Lenssen was a teacher of drawing and painting. She authored several books including "Hands in Nature and Art" and "Art and Anatomy".
