This book provides a comprehensive review of the progress made in British mycology since the founding of the British Mycological Society (BMS) in 1896. It covers advances in the study of fungi, including lichens and myxomycetes. The author explores the work of the BMS in promoting mycological research and understanding. The book highlights significant developments in the classification of fungi, particularly the work of Patouillard, von Hoehnel, and Lange. It also examines progress in understanding the biology and ecology of fungi, including their role as parasites and their interactions with other organisms. The author discusses the practical applications of mycology, such as the use of fungi in biotechnology and the control of plant diseases. The book concludes by emphasizing the importance of continued mycological research to address contemporary challenges, such as the identification of new fungal pathogens and the development of sustainable pest management strategies. It highlights the ongoing contributions of the BMS to the advancement of mycology and its relevance to various fields, including agriculture, forestry, and medicine. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu.
