A western canal scheme predating the Erie Canal. Sets forth the importance of improving internal river communication routes and turnpike roads around Philadelphia and between other centers of commerce, especially with respect to transporting goods, farm produce, coal, etc. According to the opening text, this pamphlet is based on commentary by William J.
