Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc.; New York; 1940. Hard Cover. Book condition: Good. Dust jacket condition: None. Assumed first edition, stated "Third printing . . . Before publication". Hardcover; 8-3/4" tall, 836 numbered pages. This book is in good condition: the exterior is square, reasonably clean, free of edge dings with all four corners lightly bumped and lightly worn and with mildly bumped but otherwise undamaged spine ends; the spine has a mild concave valley running the entire length---the book has been read; hinges are strong and not damaged in any fashion. The dark blue cloth binding has signs of wear with some color loss, especially on the bottom edge and on both gutter ridges. Except for an inked name/date/city on the copyright page, the interior is clean and free of writing, stray marks, stains and any sort of paper damage. Not remaindered or a Book Club edition. However, stamps on the back of the RFEP indicate that it was in a rental library and was checked out 12 times between February '41 and August '42; and the rear paste down has a 5-1/2" x 1" strip of the map missing. An exciting novel about the American Revolution, told by a committed and ardent young Loyalist. A very fine reading copy.
