Paperback. Condition: Good. This is the autobiography of one of the undisputed giants of cinema, whose colourful career as screenwriter, actor and director mirrored a personality larger than life. From a stunning directorial debut with The Maltese Falcon, he went on to dominate the film industry for more than half a century with his legendary narrative genuis. His successes in The African Queen, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and The Man Who Would be King, but his greatest glory came at the end of his life with the dual triumph of Prizz's Honor and The Dead, both starring his daughter Anjelica. This book tells the story of Huston's life, which was as varied and unpredictable as his work. Renowned as a hard drinker, gambler and hunter who made his home in America, Ireland and Mexico, he had numerous affairs and was married five times, to a schoolgirl; a gentlewoman; a motion-picture actress; a ballerina; and a crocodile: by the time of his death he was as familiar to the public as any one of his stars. The book has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact and the cover is intact. Some minor wear to the spine.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: very good. First Edition. Octavo, 389pp. A very good copy in the publisher's dark grey boards with white cloth spine. An evidently read copy, slightly shaken, but still sound. In a very good price-clipped dust jacket, gently faded on the spine, with some shallow chips along the extremities. This copy SIGNED and warmly INSCRIBED by Huston on the half-title page: For Jon [Don?] with appreciation + thanks - his friend + admirer John Huston 20/12/84. Another name is written in what looks like the same ink lower on the same page; we can't make it out. There is a large, but very faint smudge on the signature page, which does overlap with the inscription, but it is not obtrusive. Despite its flaws, still a nicely inscribed copy of the pioneering filmmaker's autobiography.
Hardcover. First Edition. pp. 389. 8vo. Quarterbound in tan cloth. Duotone photographs. Light shelfwear, author's inscription to half title page. Dustjacket lightly age toned; very good+ in very good+ dustjacket. SIGNED by Huston.
