This early 20th-century book by Robert Minturn Lockwood is a foundational text in American optometry. Lockwood, one of the first American optometrists to write specifically for the profession, provides detailed instruction on facial measurements, lens polishing, testing uncut lenses, and the importance of precision in optical fittings. Robert Minturn Lockwood (1857?1920) was a pioneering optometrist, educator, and author. He taught physics and optics at the Illinois College of Ophthalmology and Otology and later practiced in New York, where he also wrote extensively for optical journals and trained future optometrists.
