Art / Print / Poster
Heavy Card. The movie musical that introduced the Harry Warren Mack Gordon standard of the American Song Book, "At Last", not to mention Glenn Miller hits "I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo" and "Serenade in Blue", and the second of two movies showcasing the Glenn Miller Orchestra. 59 by 36 cm. The poster is of interest because of its plainness, in our view. The theater was showing the movie for only two days! While this might be surprising for a new movie, we are confident this was a 1942 showing because that year the 8th fell on a Sunday, as indicated in the poster. The poster dispenses with imagery -- it relies on contrasting font styles and styles, and bands of background colors. The poster, we would suggest, of a pared down movie poster as one would find then in smaller rural theaters that perforce had shorter engagements. Moderate amount of soiling; otherwise, light wear.
