International postal rates are calculated on a book weighing 1 Kilo, in cases where the book weighs more than 1 Kilo increased postal rates will be quoted, where the book weighs less then postage will be reduced accordingly. This is a thought provoking book that brings one into the day to day highs and lows of bomber crews, their support crews and locals a near the air base. The start of the book is training in US followed by transfer as crews with their aircraft across the Atlantic by a quite long route via North Africa. Then the history of the Eighth Air Force daylight campaign in Northern Europe is chronicled by individual accounts carefully chosen to illustrate the key missions, the highs, the lows. Highlights for me were descriptions of accidents with bomb loading, the choice of different formations, the shuttle missions to Russia and North Africa and the escape from Europe stories. The editing is on the whole well done with little repetition and a good narrative throughout using individual accounts collected by the author. Ref W 5. Signed by Author(s).
