Bound book of Conservative pamphlets and leaflets chiefly relating to the 1885 election.This election was the first with redistribution of seats and an extension of the franchise to include many more males. Commences with a list of the publications: only listing 10 of the first 112 and then 113 - 151. These publications are followed by a number of other pamphlets etc.( The list refers to 4 pamphlets being translated into Welsh, but these are not present. Those not included were deemed not relevant to the current elections). Includes several about General Gordon and Khartoum, Bradlaugh, Foot and Mouth Disease and political corruption. One leaflet refers to a number of MPs being jailed following the previous election with a number being jailed for offences. It seems that there was more accountability then than now! Please enquire if more details required. Contents Very Good. Bound in stiff card covers with a plain oilskin spine, both of which are damaged, split with a repair to front gutter. Rear gutter partially split.
