Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition. Softcover / Pictorial Card Wrappers. Octavo. 82 pp. Vibrant orange card wrappers featuring a dramatic monochrome photograph of a coastal cottage sliding down an eroding Outer Cape dune bluff, with the publisher's printed "Signed First Edition" circle at upper left and "Lobster Recipes Inside!" banner at upper right. Richly illustrated throughout with archival black-and-white photographs of severe coastal erosion, storm damage, winter nor'easters, shifting barrier dunes, vintage postcards, and traditional Cape Cod seafood preparations. Flat-signed by the author, regional Cape Cod historian Noel W. Beyle, on the preliminary page. A solid Very Good copy: clean, square, and tightly bound. The bright orange wrappers show light handling wear, faint corner rubbing, and minor shelf toning along the spine edge, but remain crisp and structurally sound with no major creases, splits, or tears (no mylar). Interior pages are clean, bright, and completely unmarked throughout, free of marginalia, foxing, or prior owner stamps aside from the author's signature. An engaging and scarce slice of Outer Cape environmental and cultural history by folklorist Noel W. Beyle. Focusing on the relentless erosion reshaping the Cape Cod National Seashore, Beyle documents famous coastal landmarks, cottages, lighthouses, and beaches lost to the Atlantic over generations—highlighted by severe aftermaths of major nor'easters (including the Blizzard of 1978). Interspersed with Beyle's trademark dry Yankee humor and authentic local lobster recipes. Signed by Author(s).
