Octavo, inserted frontispiece (photographic portrait of the author), original dark blue-green cloth, front and spine panels stamped in gold and blind. First U.S. edition. First published in 1910 in London by Chapman and Hall, Ltd. Collects twenty-four sketches and short stories, some previously published in periodicals. Amiable, lightweight material. "May Eve" is a borderline or ambiguous tale about meeting an elderly woman who may be a fairy. Small nick in cloth at bottom edge of rear cover, a very good copy. (#119460).
