Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Foreword by Johnny Hart. Rare and desirable signed. Schulz's beloved cartoons have won him the National Cartoonists Society's Humor Comic Strip Award… in 1962, the Reuben Award for 1955 and 1964, the Society's Elzie Segar Award in 1980, and the Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999. Interestingly, his cartoons have also awarded him an abundance of equally colorful honors and recognitions. In 1996, Schulz was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, adjacent to Walt Disney's. And for his interest in sports he was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993 and then the Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2007.

Some shallow toning to top and tail edges, light stain to two facing pages near the end, otherwise entirely clean and sharp. DJ is a bit smudged at a few spots with some light rubbing to head and tail of spine, price clipped. Letter on Schulz Letterhead with snoopy at bottom right corner reads: 'Dear Mr. Orphanos: Though most every marketed product bearing the likeness of the PEANUTS characters features 'Schulz' art, such is not the case of the book 'A Charlie Brown Christmas.' Since someone else did the drawings for this book, Mr. Schulz would prefer not to autograph it. Also, since he did not author the book, 'The Right-Brain Experience', he would rather not sign it. The others are autographed and returned herewith.' A fascinating little window into Schulz experience and attitute toward the commercialization of his Peanuts creations, a massive global phenomenon whose popularlity never waned over the course of its 50 years of ongoing syndication. The letter is dated 1989, 21 years after the publication of this, the first collected Peanuts volume. Signed.
