Book #10 in the original boys' series of 13 books published 1922-1930 featuring the adventures of Pee Wee Harris & his fellow Boy Scouts in the fictional Troop 1 of Bridgeboro, New Jersey (loosely based on a character from the author's hometown of Hackensack). A true FIRST EDITION, First Printing from 1927, matching all requisite points. The 12mo with mustard yellow cloth over boards, stamped with red lettering to front cover & black to spine, is in Good condition: shows heavy rubbed areas on front cover & to extremities, heavy bumping to both ends of spine & light bumping to corners. Ffep shows faint shadow of old name & price that were erased, else unmarked. The clipped-DJ is only Good as well, with some major chipping at head & foot of spine & a couple of chips to back cover. Heavy rubbing to edges, expected soiling from handling. Nicely protected in new mylar cover. First edition w/NAP, hardcover in tan cloth, has a mild lean to the binding with a few very thin cracks starting in the text block, moderate bumps to the spine ends and cover corners, faint sunning to the spine and the head, age toning to the end pages, and a small antiquarian bookseller's sticker to the head of the rear paste down, otherwise a solid Near Very Good copy in a Good dust jacket, which a chip to the head of the spine that obscures the title, an approx. 4" creased tear starting at the tail of the rear hinge that curves onto the back panel, light edge wear, sunning to the spine, and rubbing with some smudges to the covers. Jacket is wrapped in a Mylar cover.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. The exterior look quite good but, as usual, not perfect. Head and heel of spine are lightly bumped without fabric damage; all four corners are lightly bumped, with slight fabric damage on the bottom corners; bottom edge of both boards show a little wearing away of color but fabric is not damaged. Interior is very fine: strong hinges, intact frontis + 3, flexible paper; and no writing or stains of any sort. The jacket is intact and virtually complete, missing only several tiny edge chips (see photo); spine and rear panel are noticeably darkened. This book and jacket have been rather well cared for for the past 90 years.
