Cloth. Condition: Very Good Indeed. Various (illustrator). First edition. A very scarce, first edition account of the British military campaigns during the Napoleonic Wars by H. R. Clinton. In the publisher's original brown cloth binding with blind stamp embellishments and gilt spine.A thorough account of the British military campaigns during the Napoleonic Wars, providing detailed narratives on the Peninsular War (18081814) and the subsequent operations in France and Belgium. This copy explores the strategies and battles led by the Duke of Wellington, accompanied by original maps and plans, with four illustrated plates and a frontispiece. Unusually, the frontispiece appears facing page 129 rather than at the beginning of the volume. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart. Rubbing and bumping to extremities, occasionally resulting in very minor loss to cloth, with one or two chips and closed tears to head and tail of spine. Hinges strained. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to fore edge and first and last few leaves. Very Good Indeed. book.
