Signed and inscribed, with a sketch by the author on the front flyleaf. Book has lightly creased spine ends, light spotting to the page edges, and mild toning to the page edges. The jacket (priced at 25s to the bottom of the front flap), has rubbing to the panels and edges. The author inscription is to her close friend Edward Horesh "For Edward, with love from Angela" with the author's hand drawn self portrait. Carter and Horesh lived together for a time in England. Scarce novel, with an rare, intimate inscription. Winner of the Somerset Maugham Award. Signed by Author(s).
