Qualche fioritura, uno degli opuscoli inseriti è un pò corto di margini, ma l'insieme è in ottime condizioni. Félix Antoine Philibert Dupanloup (1802-1878) fu sacerdote, teologo, insegnante, giornalista, uomo politico. Vescovo di Orléans dal 1849 e dal 1854 membro dell'Accademia Francese. Figlio di una paesana, non conosceva il padre legittimo, e probabilmente era figlio di qualche rappresentante dell'alta società, in quanto fin da fanciullo sembrò beneficiare di protezioni particolari. Scelta la carriera ecclesiastica, studiò grammatica, teologia e filosofia prima di diventare sacerdote. Fu incaricato dell'educazione del duca di Bordeax e dei principi di Orléans. Nel 1842 rifiutò la nomina di Vescovo di Annecy che gli era stata offerta da Carlo Alberto di Sardegna. Fu uno dei più attivi difensori dell'insegnamento carttolico e scrisse un catechismo. Fu capo della fazione cattolica dell'Accademia di Francia, e si oppose alle candidature di Littrè e di Renan. Come Vescovo di Orléans, si impegnò per la santificazione di Giovanna d'Arco, continuando a operare a favore dell'educazione cattolica. Fu una delle figure di punta del cattolicesimo liberale, e durante il primo Concilio Vaticano si oppose alla infallibilità del Papa. Nel seminario di Saint-Nicolas-du Chardonnet riuscì a far sì che allievi dell'alta società e i migliori talenti delle classi povere potessero convivere e studiare insieme, giudicati solo per i meriti. Perfino il suo nemico Renan, che in quel seminario studiò, gli riconobbe il merito. Fu anche uno dei curatori della Legge Falloux sull'istruzione, durante la seconda Repubblica.
