Half cloth (black with gilt lettering to spine) with grey paper covered boards bearing title. Top edge trimmed, fore and bottom edge untrimmed. Top and tail of spinea little rubbed and front board has light water stain at top. Light foxing to endpapers, pastedowns and edgse. Lacks free f.e.p. Presentation inscription (date 1928) and author's signature on front pastedown, this indicates that the book being presented to a Miss G Lister was formerly given by the author to his mother.
