Book itself was published in 2000.Tritone Colour. Hardback. 68pp. 'Koos BreukelÕs studio differs very little from the traditional photographic studios that have sprung up throughout the world during the past 170 years of photography. His studio is a confined space containing a wooden, large format camera on a tripod, and a plain background sheet. Although daylight streams in through the roof, it is mainly artificial light that is being used. Here, as in most studioÕs, a wide variety of people come to pose: men, women, the young and the old, students, artists, masters and servants, family, friends and passers-by. Some subject come for a commissioned photograph, but the majority are selected by Koos Breukel himself. The major difference between other studio photographers and Koos Breukel is that he photographs people because he wants to find out if they have suffered some form of injury as a result of setbacks in their lives, and if they have managed to come to terms with this' (by Willem Van Zoetendaal). Design by Willem Van Zoetendaal. EDITION SIZE : 300 x 225 mm. AS NEW. PERFECT CONDITION. Signed by Koos Breukel on back of the print, on the box and in the book. Signed by Author(s).

Condition: Near fine. 30 cm handcoloured photo signed by artist at bottom right. Harry Best (1863-1936) opened his studio in Yosemite Valley in 1902. Born near Peterborough, he and his brother Arthur travelled the western U.S.A. playing in a band in the 1880s. In 1887, Harry was inspired to become an artist after seeing the beauty of the changing seasons around Mt. Hood in Oregon. The brothers first founded the Best Art School in San Francisco. But, about 1800, landscape painter Thaddeus Welch asked Harry to accompany him on a painting trip to Yosemite. Astounded by the beauty, Best constructed a home and studio at the foot of Bridal Veil Falls and stayed the rest of his life. His daughter Virginia married the young Ansel Adams in 1928 and Best's studio later became the Ansel Adams Gallery.

Thanks for looking. Directory photographers Trois-Rivi??res (1851-1950)Compilation by Christian LalancetteBegun in 2002 (last updated: 2010)PRESENTATIONOriginally, the idea to make this compilation of Three Rivers photographers came to me with the sole purpose to help me date even approximately photographs on which I was working in the archives of the S??minaire de Trois Rivi??res. So, is this list certainly incomplete and imperfect. With the exception of data on the photographer Adrien Godin, this list covers roughly the period between 1851 and 1950. As for Adrien Godin, my compilation is up to 1964-1965.If this compilation can still help someone in his research, the better! The methodology is very simple.Using Almanacs and / or guides of Three Rivers addresses and / or provincial and / or Canada from 1851 to 1950, I spotted and compiled the names of the Three Rivers photographers and their addresses ( if indicated) and have made ????a list in alphabetical order.Unless otherwise specified, addresses and names were transcribed with typographical errors in the printed works. Some notes have been added for personal use. Here is the list of documents consulted:Canada Classified Directory for 1865-1866.Mitchell & Co.'s.784 pages + 226 pages.Lovell's Business, Professional and Trades Classifies Directory of the Province of Quebec, etc . 1910-1911, 1575 pages. The Canada Directory: Containing the Names of the Professional and Business Men of Every Description, in the City, Towns, Villages and Principal of Canada: together with the province etc ./ By Robert WS Mackay.Montreal: Published by John Lovell,1851.682pages.Canada Directory ???1857-1858 (Section torn from "Canada Directory" 1857-1858 containing only the cities of Trois-Rivi??res, and Thorpville Tilsonburgh. The guide (directory) of the city and district of Trois-Rivi??res for 1867-1868.123 pages + approx.56 pages of ads.Even 1870-1871.153 pages.Lovell's Province of Quebec for 1871 Directory Containing 887 pages etc . + [4] pages.Irwin & Co.'s Directory of the city of Quebec, Levis, St. Sauveur, Three Rivers, Sorel, etc . for 1875-1876.383 pages.Lovell's Directory of Three Rivers, Sorel and Berthier, corrected to 20th August 1876.296 pages.Guide to the City of Trois-Rivi??res for the year 1880. 110 pages.City Guide of Three Rivers 1881. 158 pages.Almanac addresses of Trois-Rivi??res City and Diocese Guide includes . 1884. 210 pages.City Guide of Three Rivers 1886. 198 pages.Almanac 1889-1890 addresses (directory) of Trois-Rivi??res, Nicolet, Louiseville and Arthabaskaville.230 pages.Lovell's Business and Professional directory of the Province of Quebec for 1890-1891.1035 pages.Almanac address (directory) City of Trois-Rivi??res: 1890-1891 to 1897-1898, from 1899 to 1900 in 1950 to 1951.Le Journal des Trois-Rivi??res, May 26, 1865.Search folder in the Archives of the S??minaire de Trois-Rivieres Trois-Rivieres: Arts - Theatre, cinema, photographers, rating: 0063-E2-13.We find in this case two references to the photographer Pierre Dupont. These references are to the New Era newspaper of June 22, 1853 and March 22, 1859.Perigord, George/ Note: Also called GA1886does not appear1889-189031 Hart Street, Res.244 Notre-Dame Street1890-189131 Hart Street / Note: It is registered GA (Almanac of the province)Perigord, George/ Note: Also called GA (continued)1890-189131 Hart Street, Res.244 Notre-Dame Street1891-189231 Hart Street, Res.26 Hart Street (He is enrolled GA)1892-189331 Hart Street, Res.26 Hart Street (He is enrolled GA)1893-189431 Hart Street, Res.26 Hart Street (He is enrolled GA)1894-189526 Hart Street, Res.178 Notre-Dame Street (It is registered GA)1895-1896178 Notre-Dame Street (It is registered GA)1896-1897does not appear1897-1898211 Notre-Dame (This year, it is not that he is a photographer.
