Add to basketThis exceptional and unique work by Pablo Picasso is a collotype with hand-coloring in red and blue crayon. ** Hand-signed by Picasso in blue crayon in the lower right. ** The work is hand-embellished in red and blue crayon. ** While Diurnes was published as a portfolio of thirty compositions, the present work belongs to a highly exclusive parallel group of unique impressions. Issued in Paris under the direction of the legendary dealer and Picassos confidant, Heinz Berggruen, a select number of works were personally reworked in red and blue crayon by Picasso. ** For Berggruen, acting as both publisher and close friend, Picasso hand-colored individual motifs, applying chalk and personal interventions that transformed these impressions into autonomous, unique artworks. ** This exceptional work represents the zenith of the artistic synergy between Pablo Picasso and the photographer André Villers. The Diurnes series is a masterclass in mid-century experimentation, merging Picasso's avant-garde découpages (paper cut-outs) with Villers sophisticated photographic techniques. Together, they populated mythological landscapes with satyrs, goats, and neoclassical profiles, creating a body of work that blurs the line between photography and the plastic arts. *** The institutional significance of this hand-colored series is unparalleled. Comparable works from this Berggruen-linked lineage are held in the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (Gift of Olivier and Désirée Berggruen). Furthermore, the Museum Berggruen in Berlin stands as a testament to this historical collaboration, cementing the relationship between Picasso and the Berggruen circle as one of the most vital conduits of 20th-century modernism. *** Originating from a distinguished Berlin private collection, the present work follows this prestigious line of descent. It is not merely a document of a collaboration, but a rare instance of Picassos direct physical intervention on a photographic medium. Distinguished by its hand-applied elements and impeccable provenance, this work offers a rare opportunity for the connoisseur to acquire a piece of Picassos experimental legacy. ** Professionally framed, mounted on linen and float-mounted in a custom-made linen passe-partout, presented in a handcrafted exclusive wooden frame with Plexiglas® Optical HC (UV protection, scratch resistant, and minimal reflection). Framed size approx. 80 x 70 cm. ** Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century. As co-founder of Cubism, he continuously reinvented his artistic language and worked across painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. His work is central to the development of modern art, and is represented in leading museum collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Musée Picasso, and the Tate. # Authenticity and provenance guaranteed. # Delivered with a certificate of authenticity. # Worldwide shipping, tax-friendly to the USA and other countries. # Custom handmade framing available on request.
