Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Nora S. Unwin (illustrator). 1st Edition. In 1944, Elizabeth Yates was recognized with a Newbery Honor for her book, "Mountain Born". This is the sequel to that earlier novel. (Yates went on to win a Newbery Medal in 1951 for "Amos Fortune, Free Man" her fictionalized biography of the slave who bought his freedom and went on to become a wealthy and successful businessman.) "A Place for Peter" seems to be one of the most difficult of her novels to find in nice condition, unsullied by library processing. This copy is signed by the author on the front endpaper and is in very good condition. There's a bookplate on front pastedown, slight softening of spine ends and lower front corner, one tiny ding on edge of front board, and a hint of browning to edges. Still an excellent, signed copy.
