Encuadernación de tapa dura. Condition: Muy bien. 1ª Edición. In-12º. 141pp. Original binding an excellent copy in original hard cover (illustrated cloth). Very rare first edition. Signed, dated and inscribed by Jorge Luis Borges "Jorge luis Borges 1931 El perro sarnoso- p. 60". The Spanish poet, winner of the Nobel Prize for Li…terature in 1956, for the whole of his work, being designated as the outstanding work of the same lyric narrative Platero y yo. The book is constituted by brief pictures that among themselves do not keep a thematic order and respond to impressions, sensations and memories of Moguer in the childhood stage of Juan Ramón Jiménez. It appears as a diary where the most interesting aspects of the author's reality, thought and feeling are detailed. However, it is neither a diary nor an autobiographical book, but a selection of stories taken from the same real environment and chosen among the multiple memories of the past. The first edition was published in 1914 (Ediciones de la lectura) with 136 pages, and in 1917 the complete edition was published, composed of 138 chapters in 142 pages (Editorial Calleja, Madrid). It was clear that Platero was an adult text, although its simplicity and transparency perfectly suited the imagination and taste of children. Some chapters contained a certain social criticism, revealing a dimension of the author that many were slow to notice. Juan Ramón Jiménez himself, in a "prologue" to the edition, clarified: "I have never written or written anything for children, because I believe that the child can read the books that the man reads, with certain exceptions that all come to mind". Provenance : Ex-Libris: Miguel de Torre and Cesar Portos Aranzabal. Size: Formato en 12°. Firmado por el autor.
