Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket. 8vo. pp 80. Original publisher's light orange cloth, lettered gilt at the spine. With good short signed handwritten letter from Lessing concerning 'Play with a Tiger' to the American journalist and author Sally Belfrage (1936-1994) laid in, no date but envelope postmarked 7th January 1961. First edition of the second of Lessing's plays to be published. In the accompanying letter, Lessing thanks Belfrage for her positive opinion of the play, and tells her that 'Oscar Lewenstein still says he'll get it on', which, in fact he did: produced by Lewenstein, 'Play with a Tiger' had its first performance at London's Comedy Theatre on March 22nd 1962. Very good indeed in slightly used, very good dust jacket. Signedes.
