Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Small octavo, cloth lettered in gilt; unclipped dust jacket. First edition, first printing. A presentation copy, inscribed by Inge to William Gibson and his wife Margaret: "For Margaret & Bill, from their friend, Bill Inge, Nov. 1962," on the front endpaper; laid-in is an autograph card from Inge to Gibson. Playwrights William Gibson ("The Miracle Worker," 1959) and William Inge occasionally met in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, where Gibson owned a home and Inge, from time to time, rented an apartment. Both writers had various works performed at the Berkshire Theatre Festival (for example: "Bus Stop," 1957; "Picnic," 1959; "Two for the Seesaw," 1960), located near Austin Riggs Center where Gibson's wife Margaret Brenman-Gibson was employed as a psychotherapist and Inge underwent therapy. A compelling presentation copy linking two of the nation's most revered playwrights. Inscribed by Author(s).
