According to Morrow and Cooney's bibliography of the press, 56 copies of the printed sheets of this edition, intended for the hardbound issue, were rendered unusable when the top edges of the double-folded sheets were mistakenly trimmed. "Only the signed colophons were salvaged," and sheets from the wrappers issue were used instead. This is one of those sets of mistrimmed sheets: unbound, with title and copyright page and all of the text, but lacking the colophon, endsheets, etcetera. Undoubtedly most of the mistrimmed sheets were in fact discarded. An odd but interesting bit of press history. Small snag at top of spine, light toning to covers and very faint offsetting of illustrations, otherwise very good. 4to.
