Darüber hinaus spielt die Rezeptionsgeschichte von Poussins Werk eine wichtige Rolle. Der französische Maler verbrachte die meiste Zeit seines Lebens in Rom und schuf Werke, die Merkmale der Renaissancemalerei mit Einflüssen aus der Antike verbanden.
