Yellow coated endpapers containing advertisments, pp 1-3, 4-[36]. 176 black and white illustrations. Top and bottom edges of boards very slightly bumped, edges browned but contents clean. Overall a very good bright example. First edition of Sharp's first book, designed to be a breechloader-age replacement for Hawker's "Instructions to Young Sportsmen". With chapters on guns, ammunition, punts, decoys, various game birds etc. Illustrations by Herbert Sharp, the author's brother. A 1902 press-cutting is tipped into the front endpaper, relating to the Victorian Wild Birds Protection Act.
