Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. DARK HARVEST SUMMER/FALL PREVIEW: 1990 - this advance proof includes excerpts from DEAN KOONTZ - SHADOWFIRES, RAY GARTON - METHODS OF MADNESS, DAN SIMMONS - PRAYERS TO BROKEN STONES, CHET WILLIAMSON - REIGN, URBAN HORRORS (STORIES BY RAY BRADBURY, RICHARD MATHESON, JOE LANDSDALE, & RAMSEY CAMPBELL), NIGHT VISIONS 8 (STORIES BY JOHN FARRIS, STEPHEN GALLAGHER, JOE LANSDALE), OBSESSIONS (STORIES BY DEAN KOONTZ, RICK HAUTALA, F. PAUL WILSON, JOE LANSDALE, CHET WHILLIAMSON, DAN SIMMONS), & PHIL PARKS (illustrator), ADVANCE UNCORRECTED PROOF (also commonly referred to as Advance Reading Copy, Advance Readers Edition or "ARC"), large trade pb format with illustrated wrapper cover (spiral bound) in very small quantities months before the trade hardcover releases (book was used by editors/book reviewers in advance of hardcover publications). Book appears unread with pages that are white with sharp corners, no creased page corners, nice tight spine with no spine lean, no internal hinge splits, no former owner's markings or used bookstore stamps/stickers inside, no scotch tape marks or other discoloration to endpapers, no wear or creasing to covers, no rubbing or soiling to covers, no bumped corners, no cracking or defects to the spiral binding. Overall a N-FINE book of a rare advance state (predating the hardcover trade edition) Dean Koontz first printing proof book. While the Koontz post-Putnam proofs (after 1993) are fairly common (like Dark Rivers, Intensity, and Sole Survivor), Koontz's Dark Harvest/Putman era proofs are quite scarce and rarely come up for sale as most are in the hands of collectors. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Dean Koontz 1st printing hardcover/paperback/magazine appearances up for sale.

Softcover. Condition: Near Fine. First (only) edition. Octavo. [28]pp. Stapled illustrated wrappers. Unnumbered, but apparently issue Number 3 of this little college literary magazine, with one of the earliest appearances of the poet Carolyn Forche. The magazine announces Creative Writing Competition Awards for 1970 and published Forche's three-page poem "The Days Are Burning," which tied for first and earned her $40 (her first book was published in 1976.) The magazine also includes "21 Years Toward Becoming a Black Woman" by Johnnie Renee, an excerpt printed here from her book of poetry that was named "Best Collection." Forche has Signed the magazine on the title page. Accompanied by a copy of issue number 2 of the magazine (with no obvious Carolyn Forche contributions).
