Softcover. Condition: Fair Condition. Early Edition. Original plain wraps, worn, frontispiece of the proverb "Never too Old to Learn" on the verso of the front wrap is chipped with loss along top edge, and the top text of the final proverb on the inside of the rear wrap torn and lacking. Modest staining and foxing throughout, early amateurish coloring to the illustrations, a number very restrained, a few reasonably well done, and one or two less well done; sewing structure perished. Bound in original pictorial orange printed paper covers. 32pp inc wrappers with fourteen proverbs, each with a wonderful full page wood engraving, some are signed with initials to indicate John Hall. There is some light foxing throughout the text, binding is loose, paper covers are lightly worn, otherwise a very nice copy.
