Contact seller4-star sellerHardcover. Blue cloth, gilt letters and decoration on front cover, 187 pp., many BW and color plates, 2 fold-outs. Title on front cover: The Christopher Columbus Memorial Lighthouse Competition. Presents contending architectural designers for the planned memorial for Columbus in the Dominican Republic. The competition was eventu…ally won by Scottish architect Joseph Lea Gleave (1907-1965); and his depiction can be seen here on page 29. Unfortunately, the Gleave didn't get to see the finished product. The lighthouse was not built until the 1980s and dedicated in 1992, 500 years after Columbus "discovered" America. Uncommon. G (Light foxing on spine and outer covers; interior is clean.).
