With pencil crosses by the performance for Wednesday 9 June, the second of only three performances of the comic opera, held at the Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall, and part of the very first Aldeburgh Festival, held from 5-13 June 1948. The Jubilee Hall was a few doors away from Britten's house in Crabbe Street. The artistic directors of the English Opera Group were Benjamin Britten, Eric Piper and Eric Crozier. VG.
