Some of these characters have signed include Binnie Hale, Seymour beard Irene Browne, Grace Leigh, Joan Barry, George GrossSmith, Bernard Clayton, Jack Waller. The program also contains the sheet music for the play, including the song "tea for two". The card covers has some damage and on one it is detached. 4. One program for the play "Virginia" dated Wednesday 24th October 1928 starring Robert Nainby, Ernest Graham, Lancelot Quinn, Edna Brought and many more. 5. Two small programmes for two plays at the Palace Theatre "No No Nanette" Wednesday, March 11th, 1925 4pages and programme for "Dear Love" December 2nd, 1929, 28 pages. 6.17 signed photographs of actors and actresses, some I could not decipher the signatures, including: Beatrice "Binnie" Mary Hale-Monro was an English actress, singer and dancer. She was one of the most successful musical theatre stars in London in the 1920s and 1930s, able to sing leading roles in operetta as well as musicals. Irene Muriel Browne was an English stage and film actress and singer who appeared in plays and musicals, including No, No, Nanette. Later in her career, she became particularly associated with the works of Noël Coward and acted in films. Joan Barry (born Ina Florence Marshman Bell; 5 November 1903 - 10 April 1989) was a British actress, whose career straddled the development of the talkies. Born in Carlisle, Cumberland, although some sources claim she was born three years earlier in London, she had her first role at the age of 15. Barry appeared at St James's Theatre, London when seventeen. She memorably dubbed the voice of Anny Ondra in the early Alfred Hitchcock thriller Blackmail(1929).The limited sound technology available at the time meant that Barry had to dub the Czechoslovak actress in real time as she performed the role. Barry appeared on-screen for Hitchcock in Rich and Strange two years later. She continued to appear in a mixture of leading and top supporting roles (most memorably in Rome Express (1932)) until she retired to start a family. Seymour Beard was an English stage actor active in the early 20th century, best known for his roles in musical comedies and for his marriage to actress Edna Best. He was a stage performer, appearing in productions such as The Cabaret Girl (1922) at the Winter Garden and the 1925 production of No, No, Nanette at the Palace Theatre. George Grossmith (11 May 1874 - 6 June 1935), known until 1912 as George Grossmith Jr., was an English actor, theatre producer and manager, director, playwright and songwriter, remembered for his work in and with Edwardian musical comedies and 1920s musicals. He was also an important innovator in bringing cabaret and revue to the London stage. 7. Six photographs of cast and cast members during rehearsal and during plays ( not sure what plays but believed to be from Prince Thestre.

Add to basketPaper. Condition: Good. First Edition. An Interesting Collection of Original Sir Henry Irving and Dorothea Baird Ephemera including signed items, postcards, programmes, advertisements and a handwritten Henry Irving letter. The contents are a theatre programme, five advertisement cards, seven Irving postcards, two Baird postcards, two signed Irving postcards, a signed paper by Irving and Baird and a four-sided Lyceum Theatre letter from 1862 in the hand of Henry Irving about a charitable London festival. All from the early 1900's. Sir Henry Irving 1838 - 1905, born John Henry Brodribb, sometimes known as J. H. Irving, was an English stage actor in the Victorian era, known as an actor-manager because he took complete responsibility (supervision of sets, lighting, direction, casting, as well as playing the leading roles) for season after season at the West End's Lyceum Theatre, establishing himself and his company as representative of English classical theatre. In 1895 he became the first actor to be awarded a knighthood, indicating full acceptance into the higher circles of British society. Irving is widely acknowledged to be one of the inspirations for Count Dracula, the title character of the 1897 novel Dracula whose author, Bram Stoker, was business manager of the theatre. Dorothea Baird 1875 - 1933 was an English stage and film actress.Baird was the daughter of Sir John Forster Baird, a prominent English barrister-at-law. She married Henry Brodribb, son of Sir Henry Irving, in 1896, and, together, they had two children, Laurence Forster Irving in 1897 and Elizabeth Irving in 1904. Various sizes. Generally, in average to good condition. Tape marks to some edges. Mounting residue to some rears and general usage marks. Some postcards have been edge reduced. Letter a little marked. Light repairs to some of the paperwork. Ref 19259. Signed by Author(s).

1st Printing. 24 pp. Contents include an illustrated history of the tower and its carillon, as well as the summer program. Illustrated with 9 captioned b/w half-tone photographic images. 8vo. 8-1/8" x 5" From Wiki, we find that a "carillon is a musical instrument typically housed in the bell tower (belfry) of a church or municipal building. The instrument consists of at least 23 cast bronze, cup-shaped bells, which are played serially to produce a melody, or together to play a chord. A traditional manual carillon is played by striking a keyboardâ"the stick-like keys of which are called batonsâ"with the fists, and by pressing the keys of a pedal keyboard with the feet. The keys mechanically activate levers and wires connected to metal clappers which strike the bells." Here, this Carillon "was installed and inaugurated in the presenced of His Excellency the Viscount Willingdon, Governor General of Canada, at noon on the first day of July, 1927, on the occasion of the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of the Confederation of Canada." Uncommon, no copies located on OCLC. Average wear. Period pos to p. 1 upper margin. Very Good.
