Bookplate on front pastedown detailing the sale of Otto Monsted to the Maypole Dairy Co, and becoming the Maypole Margarine Works 1st January 1915. Various illustrations dealing with the manufacturing of margarine, some with tissue guards. Large pull out of the factory and plant has taped repairs. Some cover wear. A nice copy.

Dedication page+f/piece photo tipped onto brown card, with protective tissue + illustrated t.p.+ pp.1-19 (with photo of 'The Modern Milkmaid' to verso p.19 + (1, blank)+ c.50 unnumbered ill. plates on recto c.100 pp., one being an unfolding 5 pp. panoramic photo of the factory, + an ill.t.p. 'A few remarks to the Retail Trade'+ pp.20-31+photo of their delivery van verso p.31 +_ (1, black on orange printed decorated colophon with printer and illustrator details, all printed text pp. in red border. Text sections open with large red illuminated capitals. Actually undated but founded in 1989 according to opening account. Clearly a lavish production. Otto Monsted was the largest and pioneering margarine producer in the UK. Unsurprising, given pub.date, very scarce. 19 cm x 25 cm.
