Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Book size about 4 by 6 inches with some 16 pages including the covers. Bound in pale pink wraps with front cover image of 'Puss' with a rabbit over his shoulder; lettering in black; rear cover list of products available from the publisher (Which includes Grate Aprons, Frame Paper, Valentines, Games, Alphabet Cards, Toy Books, Primers). Illustrated with six roughly half page woodcuts. It is possible to closely date this book due to the publisher address of No. 3 Tryon Row, New York and the notation 'Successor to Elton & Co., New York'. John McLoughlin, son of the elder John McLoughlin succeeded to the business in 1850 when his father and Elton retired. He published from the Tryon Street address until about 1855 when he was joined in the business by his brother and the name changed to McLoughlin Brothers. Thus this little chap book was published within that five year period--not often we can pin a date so closely on one of these early chap books. Spine separated at the bottom for a bit over one inch; light overall wear and soil. VERY GOOD Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng.
