Taken together, they form the most extensive and detailed treatment of common law pleading that had yet appeared. A work of immense authority, it was often cited as The Reports, there being no need to mention the author's name. The first editions, all in Law-French, were published from 1600-1615. A highlight of the fourth part is its inclusion of Slade's Case, which set an important precedent in contract law and reconciled conflicts between the courts of King's Bench and Common Pleas. The annotations in our copy are brief case citations, glosses and references to other reporters. William Henry Reece, Esq., F.S.A. [1812-1873], one of our copy's la ter owners, was the distinguished Warwickshire solicitor, antiquary, philanthropist, author and translator.
