John Dewey's The Quest for Certainty critiques the Western philosophical tradition's search for absolute, unchanging truth by arguing that it has created a damaging split between theory and practice, mind and body, and knowledge and action. He posits that a pragmatic, experimental approach to lifeone that treats ideas and values as tools for solving problems in a dynamic world, much like scientific methodsoffers a more functional and ethical alternative. This work advocates for integrating our values into our actions to address problems in a way that benefits both individuals and society, rather than seeking a detached, certain "truth". This is Dewey's most important and influential work.
