A very scarce first edition copy of 'Rambles in Cairo', a work of travel from French translator and travel Henriette Devonshire.In the publisher's original b…oards.With a folding map of medieval monuments of Cairo kept to the front pocket, as well as twenty-four monochrome plates and numerous in-text and half-page monochrome illustrations.Collated, complete.Modified and enlarged from letters that appeared in the Sphinx during the winter of 1916-1917, this work provides a monograph of each of the 359 historic monuments of Cairo, together with a useful chronological table. The author aims to ensure through this that "no traveller should experience any difficulty in finding his way through the labyrinthine native quarters of Cairo".
