First U.S. edition. 173pp. James William Mitchell (1926-2002) was a British writer, principally of crime fiction and spy thrillers. He is probably best known as the creator of the British television series When the Boat Comes In (BBC) and Callan (Thames Television). "Callan" aired between 1967 and 1972 and starred Edward Woodward as David Callan, an agent of a state secret service dealing with internal security threats to the United Kingdom. The pilot episode was shown in 1967 under the title ' A Magnum for Schneider' and this title was used for the first UK edition of this book, based on the series. The book is bound in the original red boards with blue titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good + condition with light bumping to the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription and is probably unread. The unclipped dustwrapper is also very good with some shelf wear and light soiling and bumping to the top of the spine.
