Senate Bill 1055 of the 111th Congress of the United States (Public Law No. 111-254) "Requires the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President pro tempore of the Senate to make arrangements for the award of a congressional gold m…edal to the Army's 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and the Military Intelligence Service, collectively, in recognition of their dedicated service during World War II." (United States Congress website) Ceremonies were held throughout the country to honor those Japanese Americans who served. The final ceremony was held in Los Angeles, California. This book is the program for the ceremony, which includes a history of the regiments, a list and photos of the recipients, congratulatory letters from politicians and other dignitaries, the complete text of Senate Bill 1055, and congratulatory ads from local businesses and families. Laid in are a typed, signed letter dated June 9, 2012 from Eric K. Shinseki to the recipients and 2 copies of a list of additional registered recipients as of 5/30/12 with an additional copy tipped in. B&w photographs. (11"x8-1/2").
