Sharp and handsome (see scan). A seminal work, an early portion of Heinlein's "Future History" series (so named later by John W. Campbell] which was second only to Isaac Asimov's Foundation series in competition for the Hugo Award for Best All-Time Series. Contains the novel-length "If This Goes On.", plus the short stories "Coventry" and Misfit", all three of which were formally included in the original Future History aggregation, "The Past Through Tomorrow" (1967). Not one of the subscriber's copies with tipped-in signature page; this was signed on the flyleaf for the original science fiction enthusiast whose name is on the ffep, though Heinlein's signature was by request stand-alone and not personalized to him. One of an unknown number (perhaps 500 copies) of this, the subscribers issue SIGNED by the au…thor. The 3rd book in the authors FUTURE HISTORY cycle. Additionally, this copy is SIGNED by fellow writers Frank Robinson (who had two of his novels made into Hollywood films: THE POWER & THE TOWERING INFERNO), Rog Phillips, Julian May (signing as Julian May Ditky) & Oliver Saari (a very scarce signature) as well as editor Bea Mahaffey and editor / publisher (of this very book as well as many others), Ted Dikty. Also included is the publishers printed invoice for this book to the purchaser. Furthermore, laid in is a ticket for the University of Chicago Lecture Series for the Winter Quarter of 1957 entitled The Science Fiction Novel: Imagination And Contemporary Social Criticism. Heinlein was a guest lecturer of this series entitling his talk "Science Fiction: Its Nature, Faults and Virtues" which was delivered on February 8th, 1957. The blank verso of this ticket bears Heinlein's signature. A truly unique copy of this title.
