Main Journal of proletarian literature.The illustrated magazine was founded in 1924 as a weekly supplement to the Krasnaya Gazeta. From 1932 the official organ of the Leningrad Association of Proletarian Writers; from 1935 to 1941 a fortnightly literary and artistic magazine organ of the Leningrad branch of the Union of Soviet Writers. From 1940 to 1946 the magazine was published under the title Leningrad. It was closed by the decree of the Orgburo of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) "On the magazines Zvezda and Leningrad" dated 14 August 1946. In 1993 it resumed its activities under the title Petersburg Magazine. From the library of the writer, director, producer, curator of festivals and exhibitions Solomon Semenovich Tresser (19502012). He was a collector and researcher, collecting Russian book graphics of the first third of the 20th century. Member of the National Union of Bibliophiles (NSB).
