First Edition Signed
First hardcover edition, first printing. Complete in four volumes. Signed by the author. Publisher's original navy blue cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. 'The Rich Earth' is a very good copy, the binding firm, the spine a touch rolled. The dustwrapper is rubbed and nicked at the flap edges and tips of the slightly faded spine. This Ravished Land is a very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth a little nicked to the upper right of the front board. The dustwrapper has a small chip to the top right corner of the front panel and a slightly faded spine. 'After The Storm' is better than very good, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh. The dustwrapper is a little nicked at the top of the spine and with several short closed tears to the edges. 'White Water' is a near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth and gilt bright and fresh. The dustwrapper is also near fine with just a little rubbing and creasing to the extremities. All volumes are clean throughout and without previous owner's marks. None of the dustwrappers are priced clipped. Each volume is an inscribed presentation copy from the author. 'The Rich Earth' is inscribed in black ink on the front endpaper "Much love to you both / Pam '82"; 'This Ravished Land' is inscribed in black ink on the endpaper "Very best wishes / Pam (Oldfield)"; 'After The Storm' is inscribed in black ink on the front endpaper "For Judy and Terry / love Pam / P.S. You don't have / to read them all!!"; 'White Water' is inscribed in blue ink on the title page "For Judy / Every good wish / Pam [underlined]". A scarce presentation set of Pamela Oldfield's historical romance series The Heron Saga. The books were originally published as paperback originals by Fontana, Macdonald issued only a small number in hardcover, most of which were destined for the British library system.
