First Edition. Signed by Riopelle and N° 45 of 150 copies of this exquisite Limited Edition. First edition, hard caramel cover in a caramel slipcase with a blue label, folio format, 11" x 15" (28 x 38 cm), 38 pp unbound on Arches vellum. Signed by Riopelle and numbered forty-six of one-hundred and fifty copies of this limited edition. This issue was released in conjunction with Riopelle's 1974 exhibit at the Maeght gallery of works painted in 1973 and based on "Arctic" themes. Thirty of these works are reproduced here in black and white. This issue contains a veritable plethora of original colour lithographs by Jean-Paul Riopelle, 12 in total, including one triple page foldout, two doubles, and nine single page lithographs. Accompanying French text, 'Arctique', by Jacques Dupin. The hard cover and vellum pages are in excellent, fine, condition with the slipcase showing some very slight wear on the bottom and top edges An outstanding portfolio representing the works circa late 1970's of this great Paris-based Canadian artist RIOPELLE. This issue was released in conjunction with Riopelle's 1976 exhibit at the Maeght gallery of works from 1971 to 1975, including sculptures, pen and ink, pastels, acrylic paintings on carton, paintings on canvas, and lithographs on screen based on Native Canadian themes. Some are reproduced in black and white and others in colour. Of particular interest are the four original colour lithographs, one triple-page foldout, one double-page, and two singles . Housed in the original deep green cover in white slipcase, in folio format, 11" x 15" (28 x 38 cm), 38 pp. unbound on vellum. Accompanying French text, 'Lumiere Boreale', by Paul Auster, translated by Alain Delahaye. A wonderfully well-kept copy of this magazine, cover and vellum in fine condition with some very slight markings on the slipcover. An outstanding portfolio representing the works circa late 1970's of this great Paris-based Canadian artist RIOPELLE. Signed.

This issue of Derriére le Miroir, No. 185, was published to coincide with an exhibition of Riopelle's works held at the Galerie Maeght in April 1970. Folio. With 5 colour lithographs, in 3 sizes: covers (38 x 57 cm), full-page (38 x 28.5 cm), or tri-fold (38 x 84cm); 7 pages of monochrome photographs. Original lithographed wrappers, lettering to front cover in black, sheets loosely inserted as issued. All housed in the publisher's brown boards with lettering to spine in black, with matching slipcase blindstamped with artist's owl motif. Light rubbing to slipcase, light offsetting to a few leaves from lithographs. A near-fine copy.
