Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition thus. David and Kim Butcher, whose private press in Solihull specialized in hand-printed miniature books and folders, came up with a little peach of a book here. Thomas's emotive poem, first published in 1916, seems to foretell of his own death on th…e WWI battlefields of France in 1917: "Now all roads lead to France / And heavy is the tread / Of the living; but the dead / Returning lightly dance:". The poem is hand printed in brown ink on Rives mould-made paper, the twelve pages sewn with green thread into green card wrappers which are then covered in a Japanese lace paper "dust jacket" which, in turn, is protected by a clear glassine cover. There is a frontispiece illustration printed in green. Just 100 numbered copies of this gorgeous little book (3.4" x 2.5") were printed, this copy being number 78. There is just a hint of browning to the very edge of the lace paper wrapper, but a very near fine copy. Together with the book is a sample page - a single folded sheet making up the first four pages of the poem. Just a lovely example of imaginative and well executed private press work. MC.
