Signed with personal messages, witticisms, & small behind-the-scenes insights such as "May much more whiskey be thrown at the wall in your honour." He was the northern editor of the Daily Mail, and a war correspondent during World War II,writing a war diary that was published by Victor Gollancz as a series of seven books.
