Helene von Nostitz Hindenburg (1878-1944) was the niece of Paul von Hindenburg, She was introduced to Rodin by the German art collector Harry Kessler shortly after they had attended the sculptures exhibit in 1900. This developed to a close friendship with Rodin, who during his visit to Helene's villa in Tuscany in November 1902, began his series of portraits of her. This copy has a lengthy signed dedication by Helene to Louise Thornton dated 1932. Light rubbing to the boards and sunning to the spine otherwise internally clean. Inscribed by Author(s).
