Spine is faded. Rubbings and markings to boards. Gilt top page edges. Pages are rough cut. Illustrations are creased and one is detached. Pages are age tanned with occasional foxing. This is a beautiful book of great interest to the sportsman.

Published in 1904, it was the first English book on roe. It was issued as a subscription edition of only 100 copies and is now extremely scarce. This copy does not state 'Subscription Edition' on the title page, but does have the alphabetical list of subscribers at the back. Chapters include: Natural history of the roedeer; Roe hunting; Roe shooting; The roe in heraldry; Management of roe. It is now believed that "Snaffle" was not, as previously thought, Robert Dunkin but Guy Hardwin Gallenga. .
