Roger Vilder (Exhibition Musee D' Art Contemporian Montreal 23-Feb-23 March 1975) softcover Exhibited at the Musée d art contemporain de Montréal in 1975 along with a series of kinetic-light paintings titled Hommage au constructivisme (1971), Roger Vilder s video, Color in Motion, captures the artist s preoccupation with form, colour, movement, the relationship between the unit and the whole, and the notion of the cycle. Reminiscent of Piet Mondrian s work, with its rhythmic relationships of colour planes, Vilder s coloured lines and shapes perpetually transform to the sound of a composition by Philip Glass. The video expresses the latent dynamism of plasticism at its highest level, and transposes a static, chromatic expression into a time-based experience. ROGER VILDER Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1938 Lebanese-born Roger Vilder is among the first artists to use digital technologies. Since his first exhibition in Montréal in 1965, he has explored concepts of movement and temporality, and has been interested in the relationship between the unit and the whole, as well as in the notion of the cycle. Known for his pictorial, sculptural, systemic and kinetic works, Vilder grounds his research in the fields of drawing, sculpture, photography, video, motorized mechanics and digital technology. His neon sculptures, kinetic paintings and algorithmic animations extend the potential for constructivist thought while transposing his concern for geometry and perception within a spatiotemporal continuum. in French and English some cover marks, label, inside is clean nad tight BOT.
